Dating outside your faith

“Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church.

However, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.

Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, so that he might present the church to himself in splendour, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.

In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, because we are members of his body.

Each time there seems to be some good reason why we think it would be okay. God is very serious in what He tells us concerning our “affections.” We are told in 2 Corinthians -18: Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. Or what portion does a believer share with an unbeliever? I will make my dwelling among them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

For some reason, when it concerns matters of the heart, we can often be swayed to wander further outside of God’s boundaries than we may on other matters. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Therefore go out from their midst, and be separate from them,’ says the Lord, and touch no unclean thing; then I will welcome you, and I will be a father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to me, says the Lord Almighty.’ For those of you who are dating, or are tempted to date a nonbeliever, I’d like to challenge you to reconsider.

Please prayerfully read and consider what God is saying to your heart —especially in light of the verses in 2 Corinthians -18.Jehovah’s Witnesses believe that the principles and commands found in the Bible can help us to make decisions that both please God and benefit us.(Isaiah , 18) We did not create these principles and commands, but we do live by them.Myth #1: "God has one woman picked out for you to marry. You are destined to be with her, and God will guide you to her." Good luck finding this one in the Bible.
